A pianist named Garvey, while traveling on a tour, gets off the train to buy cigarettes, and learns from a salesgirl that the cities imagined by Grin really exist. Forgetting about his tour, he goes to one of these cities, where he meets the captain of "The Waverunner"... The famous bard Alexander Galich wrote the script to this film -one of the 1960s best motion pictures. The film features his wonderful songs as performed by Galich himself: "A ship was sailing from faraway Australia...", "Things will straighten out, there's nothing to worry about..."... In the 21st century, the cinema will be different; perhaps it's natural. And yet, it's a pity...

　　A Venetian musician at La Fenice theatre is affected by an incurable disease. By chance he meets his ex-wife who is now living with another man. She finally realizes that she is still in love with him.One of the most romantic films ever made and that still bears the pass of time despite some camera cliches of the 70's. Venice at its best is the setting for a poignant story of lovers parting for ever in a day's time. Sensitive and powerfully emotional, but never corny, with Musante and Bolkan as passional as you may wish lovers can be. A wonderful soundtrack and a beautiful cinematography help to make this film be a delight thirty-two years after it was made. Not to be missed.

　　The Doll is an adaptation of the novel, The Doll (novel) by Bolesław Prus, which is regarded by many as one of the finest Polish novels ever written and, along with Pharaoh (novel), made Bolesław Prus a potential candidate for the Nobel Prize in literature. The influence of Émile Zola is evident, and some have compared the novel to Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert; both were Prus's contemporaries. The movie, however, may be more compared to Stendhal's Le Rouge et le Noir, (The Red and the Black).
　　The Doll constitutes a panorama of life in Warsaw between 1878 and 1879, and at the same time is a subtle story of three generations of Polish idealists, their psychological complications, their involvement in the history of the nineteenth century, social dramas, moral problems and the experience of tragic existence. At the same time this story describes the disintegration of social relationships and the growing separation of a society whose aristocratic elite spreads the models of vanity and idleness. In the bad air of a backward country, anti-Semitic ideas are born, valuable individuals meet obstacles on their way, and scoundrels are successful.
　　This poetic love story follows a nouveau riche merchant, Stanislaw Wokulski, through a series of trials and tribulations occasioned by his obsessive passion for an aristocratic beauty, Izabela Lecka, played by the famous Polish actress, Beata Tyszkiewicz.
　　Plot:
　　As a descendant of an impoverished Polish noble family, young Wokulski is forced to work as a waiter at Hopfer's, a Warsaw restaurant, while dreaming of a life in science. After taking part in the failed 1863 Uprising against Tsarist Russia, he is sentenced to exile in Siberia. On eventual return to Warsaw, he becomes a salesman at Mincel's haberdashery. Marrying the late owner's widow (who eventually dies), he comes into money and uses it to set up a partnership with a Russian merchant he had met while in exile. The two merchants go to Bulgaria during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, and Wokulski makes a fortune supplying the Russian Army. The enterprising Wokulski now proves a romantic at heart, falling in love with Izabela, daughter of the vacuous, bankrupt aristocrat, Tomasz Łęcki. In his quest to win Izabela, Wokulski begins frequenting theatres and aristocratic salons; and to help her financially distressed father, founds a company and sets the aristocrats up as shareholders in his business.The indolence of these aristocrats, who secure with their pensions, are too lazy to undertake new business risks, frustrates Wokulski. His ability to make money is respected but his lack of family and social rank is condescended to. Because of his "help" (in secret) to Izabela's impecunious but influential father, the girl becomes aware of his affection. Fifteen years later, and their friendship has blossomed via e-mail, Raj believing that he's getting to know Tina when it's really Pooja. His family decides to go back on a holiday to India for 2 weeks, when Tina discovers the truth about Pooja's e-mails, they decide together that Tina will play along with the charade. When Raj arrives in India, he is struck by Tina's beauty but equally as struck to Pooja's personality. On a coincidence Raj eventually realizes that he had been corresponding with Pooja, and he realizes that Pooja is his true love which forces Tina and her family to accept the fact that Raj and Pooja are suitable for each other and that the two should get marry under any circumstances.

　　去年過世的波蘭導演耶吉‧卡瓦萊洛威茲，是「Polish Film School運動」中的代表人物之一。其作品擅長以影像呈現細膩的細節，累積給予觀者強烈的震撼力。議題圍繞個人在社會備受政治或戰爭壓迫下，人性的掙扎與道德的選擇。這些深具豐富意涵的創作文本，也讓他的作品深受影壇重視。1951年拍攝首部劇情長片《The Village Mill》，隨後完成《Shadow》(1956) ，以及本片《夜車》，這些影片都被視為相當具時代代表性的波蘭電影。卡瓦萊洛威茲亦曾主掌知名的KADR 製作部門，安德烈華依達、塔都茲考威克(Tadeusz Konwicki) 和尤利斯馬休斯基(Juliusz Machulski)都曾在其製作部門工作。他最為人所熟知的影片莫過於1961年的《修女約安娜》，以及1966年改編自Bolesław Prus的歷史小說《Pharaoh》，本片亦入圍了1967的奧斯卡最佳外語片。
　　《夜車》敘述一對男女Jerzy和Marta意外地在前往波羅地海邊Hel的夜車上共處一室。一表人才的Jerzy狀似緊張，看來像是在逃避追趕，Marta剛開始也沉默不言，慢慢的兩人才成為朋友。在車上還有愛慕著Marta的男孩Staszek，以及擁有豔光四射的年輕太太的老律師。當火車停靠在一個小站裡，警方上車開始搜索畏罪潛逃的殺人犯時，流言開始四起，都將警方要緝捕的對象，指向這個車廂中的Jerzy和Marta…。
　　不同於當時深受義大利新寫實主義影響的「Polish Film School運動」作品，《夜車》瀰漫著希區考克式的懸疑詭譎氣氛。全片的劇情推展在火車內進行，封閉的車廂成為卡瓦萊洛威茲最好的發展空間。火車上乘客間彼此的猜忌與不信任，可說是當時波蘭共產社會的最佳寫照，也是一部波蘭影史重要的傑作。
